The Old Wash Kitchen
Cosy, quirky, countryside cottage for 4

In Holmfirth, Yorkshire, United Kingdom

Traditional, early 1800's weavers cottage nestling in the valley beside the river Holme, at the foot of Holme Moss, right on the edge of the Yorkshire Pennines and the Peak district with woodland, moorland and reservoir walks from the door. It's ideally located to explore all that Yorkshire and the surrounding area has to offer.

The Old Wash Kitchen nestles in the heart of the village of Hinchliffe Mill at the foot of Holme Moss, a location with views made famous in the hit comedy series, 'The Last of The Summer Wine'. It sits in a conservation area with characteristic stone cottages centred around a 19th century woollen mill and the river Holme which can be heard babbling by.

The cottage is surrounded by rolling green hills, open countryside and overlooks the river and mill pond a haven to wildlife and birds including ducks, herons and kingfishers.

This cosy, spacious, family and dog friendly 2 bedroomed cottage, the lower half of a pair of 150 year old mill workers cottages, features original beams, exposed stonework, an esse gas stove, an intricately carved antique mahogany bed and vaulted ceilings.

The Old Wash Kitchen is perfect for exploring Holmfirth and Yorkshire with scenic walks and cycle rides all from your door with the benefit of a village shop, 2 local dog friendly pubs, both serving food, a tea room and a vineyard with it's own restaurant within a few minutes walk.

Holmfirth centre with it's array of shops, cafe's, pubs, bars, restaurants and the Picturedrome is a short, flat, scenic 1 mile stroll away.

If this is the peaceful, scenic and authentically Yorkshire get away you're looking for then we look forward to welcoming you to The Old Wash Kitchen.

Here's what our guests say......

Beautiful cottage

Beautiful cottage which is well kept and spotless. Has lots of extras and in a great position.  The Stumble Inn was very local with great people and felt very welcome. Will definitely return. Thank you,

Just back from a 2 night stay. From initial contact with Claire, to the return of the deposit even before we got back home, our experience has been incredible. Cosy. Spotless. Homely. Warm. Didn't want to get out of bed as they were so comfortable. Lovely welcome, with milk in the fridge for that cup of tea after a long drive. Shop 1 minute away for essentials, lovely town 2 minute drive away, 5 fantastic reservoir walks, all within a 10 minute drive away. Took 2 boys (12 and 16, yes, funny names for children) who don't like to be separated from gaming consoles, and they can't wait to go back. Great value for money. You know sometimes there's always something that takes the shine off? Well, we couldn't find fault with anything, and we're getting to the age where we like to grumble. Thank you Claire, your hospitality has created family memories that are priceless.
